- You pay; we create an account for your child and one for you.
- Before a tutor can be matched, your child must set a password and fill in a short form (about three minutes). You can do it for them.
- The tutor arranges and runs the lessons with your child online. Hours you cancel in good time go straight back.
1Buying tutoring
- 1On Pricing, choose the programme (for example IB Diploma or A-Level), the subject and how many hours.
- 2At checkout choose I am a parent, enter your details and your child's name and email address, and pay by card. First time? You also choose a password for your own account.
Important
Use your child's own email address. Their login and all lesson emails go there.
2After you pay: one step before we can start
Two emails go out straight away: an order confirmation to you, and an invitation to your child. Before we can match a tutor, your child needs to do two things.
- 1Set a password using the button in their email.
- 2Fill in a short intake form for each subject: what they want help with, when they are free and what kind of tutor suits them. About three minutes.
- Your confirmation email contains the same links, so you can forward them to your child, for example on WhatsApp.
- Prefer to do it yourself? Sign in at ibdoctor.co.uk/login with your own email and password. You land in your child's dashboard (if you have several children, you first pick one). The Complete your onboarding banner opens the form, and you can fill it in together or on their behalf.
Important
Nothing happens until the form is submitted. We remind both of you by email a few hours after purchase and again the next day if it is still open.
3The tutor and the first lesson
Once the form is in, the IB Doctor team picks a tutor for your child, usually within 24 hours. Your child receives an email introducing the tutor, and the tutor gets in touch through the platform's messages to arrange the first lesson.
- The tutor books each lesson (one or two hours) once a time is agreed. Your child gets a confirmation and reminders before every lesson.
- Lessons take place online in the browser. Ten minutes before the start, a Join Session button appears in your child's lesson list.
4If plans change
- A lesson can be cancelled from its details up to 60 minutes before it starts. The hours go straight back; nothing to request.
- To move a lesson, ask the tutor in messages.
- If the tutor does not show up, the hours are returned automatically and we are informed.
5Seeing how it is going
Sign in with your own email and password and you see exactly what your child sees: remaining hours, upcoming and past lessons, and their messages with the tutor. Your own page also lists your orders and payments.
- Lesson emails go to your child's address. Your child receives an email when their hours are nearly used up and when they run out.
- To carry on with the same tutor, use Renew Bundle next to the bundle. To add a subject, or another child, buy a new bundle from Pricing.
6If something is not right
- If the first session does not go well, tell us within 24 hours through the first-session guarantee form. We will offer a different tutor or refund the whole bundle.
- For anything else, reply to any IB Doctor email or write to hello@ibdoctor.co.uk. We usually reply within a few hours.
