At a glance
- Your account is created when tutoring is bought. You only set a password from the link in your email.
- Complete the short intake form for each subject (about three minutes). We match your tutor from it, and nothing starts until it is done.
- Your tutor books the lessons. You join from View / Join Lessons, and hours you cancel in good time go straight back to your bundle.
1Set your password
There is no sign-up page. When tutoring is bought, we create your student account and email you a personal link.
- Bought it yourself? Open "Action required: set your IB Doctor password" and click the button. Your order confirmation has the same link, plus a link to each intake form.
- A parent bought it for you? Open "[Parent's name] has arranged tutoring for you" and click the button to set your password. If you already had an account, it just asks you to sign in. Your parent has the same links and can forward them to you.
- No email? Check spam, or use Forgot password: it sends a fresh link to your address. Then sign in at ibdoctor.co.uk/login.
2Complete your intake form
We cannot match a tutor until the intake form for a subject is complete. It takes about three minutes and asks what you want to work on, when you can meet and any tutor preferences. One form per subject.
- Open it from the link in your email, or from the Complete your onboarding banner on your dashboard.
- You need to be signed in to your own account.
Important
Until the form is submitted, no tutor is assigned and your hours cannot be used. We send a reminder a few hours after purchase and again the next day if it is still open.
3Meet your tutor
Once your form is in, the IB Doctor team matches you with a tutor who teaches your subject, usually within 24 hours. You get an email introducing them, your hours appear under Bundle Balances, and a conversation with your tutor is opened in My Messages.
- Your tutor will message you to arrange the first lesson. You can message first if you like.
- Reply in My Messages, not to the email: replies to emails go to the IB Doctor team, not to your tutor.
4Lessons
- Your tutor books each lesson (one or two hours) once you have agreed a time. The hours come off your bundle at booking and you get a confirmation email. Reminders arrive about eight hours and one hour before.
- To join, open View / Join Lessons. The Join Session button appears ten minutes before the start, once your tutor has opened the room. Lessons run in Lessonspace, in your browser.
- Files for a lesson are under Lesson Materials in the lesson's details; both you and your tutor can add them.
5Cancelling or moving a lesson
- You can cancel a lesson from its details up to 60 minutes before the start. The hours go straight back to your bundle; nothing to request.
- To move a lesson, message your tutor: only tutors can reschedule, also up to 60 minutes before.
- If your tutor never opens the room, the lesson is marked as not started after its end time, the hours are returned automatically and the team is informed.
6Hours and top-ups
- Bundle Balances shows total, used and remaining hours. Hours are tied to one subject and one tutor, and they do not expire.
- You get an email when a bundle is down to one hour, and another when it reaches zero.
- To keep going with the same tutor, use Renew Bundle on that bundle or the link in the email. No new intake form is needed. For a new subject, buy a bundle from Pricing.
7Refunds and the first-session guarantee
- If your first session does not go well, tell us within 24 hours through the first-session guarantee form. We will offer a different tutor or refund your whole bundle.
- For anything else, reply to any IB Doctor email, write to hello@ibdoctor.co.uk or message IB Doctor Support in My Messages. The team usually replies within a few hours.
