Tutor verification
IB Doctor verifies tutors before matching them with families by checking identity, qualification evidence, the public 40+ IB-points tutor standard, subject expertise, interview performance, safeguarding expectations and academic integrity standards. The aim is to make tutor quality explicit rather than asking parents to trust an unverified marketplace profile.
Tutors must evidence that they achieved 40+ IB points before they are presented as IB Doctor tutors. Additional university or subject-specialist credentials are reviewed as supporting evidence, not as a replacement for the public 40+ IB-points standard.
We check identity, school or university background, subject history and qualification evidence so families are not relying on an anonymous marketplace profile.
Applicants complete an interview focused on subject knowledge, exam technique, clarity of explanation and whether they can adapt to HL, SL, IA, EE or ToK needs.
Tutors are expected to follow safeguarding, communication and lesson conduct standards, including appropriate boundaries with students and parents.
Tutor support must keep work student-owned. Tutors can explain, question, review and guide, but should not write coursework, fabricate evidence or complete assessed work for students.
Verification does not mean every tutor is right for every student. It means IB Doctor starts from a defined quality bar and then matches by subject, level, goals, communication style and availability. If the first session is not a fit, the first session guarantee gives families a route to rematch or request a refund under the published terms.
