IB Maths Applications & Interpretation (AI) Tutoring
One-to-one IB Maths AI tutoring at HL and SL: statistics, modelling, the GDC on every paper, HL Paper 3 and your maths exploration, with a verified tutor who scored 40+ IB points.
Maths AI is the IB maths course built around modelling, statistics and technology. Marks usually slip in predictable places: choosing the wrong test or model, GDC steps you cannot do quickly, numerical answers left without interpreting them in context, and at HL, demanding extra content such as matrices, graph theory and differential equations. Your tutor works on those points at HL or SL, using past papers and markschemes, and shows you, with example explorations, how to use real data properly.

What You Get with IB Maths Applications & Interpretation (AI) Tutoring
Comprehensive support designed to help you achieve your target grade
Exam Technique
- Paper 1: many short questions across the syllabus, answered quickly and accurately with a GDC
- Paper 2: longer modelling and statistics questions where interpreting the result earns marks
- HL Paper 3: two extended questions that build a model or investigation step by step
- GDC fluency for regression, hypothesis tests, finance (TVM) and solving equations
IA & Coursework
- Choosing an exploration where the data or model really needs maths at your level
- Collecting or sourcing data and choosing a suitable statistical test or model
- Interpreting results and reflecting on limitations, which the criteria reward
- Statistical tests and models practised on other data, while the work stays yours
Concept Building
- SL core: financial maths, modelling with functions, Voronoi diagrams, chi-squared and t-tests, introductory calculus
- HL extension: matrices and eigenvalues, complex numbers, vectors, graph theory, Poisson, Markov chains, differential equations
- Reading statistical output and explaining what it means in context
- A revision plan built around your mock and exam dates

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation (AI) Assessment Structure
Maths AI SL is assessed by Paper 1 (short questions), Paper 2 (extended questions) and the mathematical exploration (IA, 20%). A GDC is required on every paper. HL adds Paper 3, two extended problem-solving questions in 1 hour 15 minutes, worth 20%. This structure applies to exams up to November 2028; a revised course is first examined in May 2029.
Paper 1
External AssessmentCompulsory short-response questions across the whole syllabus, GDC required
Paper 2
External AssessmentCompulsory extended-response questions, GDC required
Paper 3 (HL only)
External AssessmentTwo compulsory extended-response problem-solving questions, GDC required
Internal Assessment
Internal AssessmentThe mathematical exploration: a written piece on a topic you choose, usually 12 to 20 pages
Key Assessment Notes
- HL Paper 3 lasts 1 hour 15 minutes in current IB exam timetables (the original guide listed 1 hour)
