Subject and level conditions

  • The six IB subjects must include one foreign language and mathematics.
  • Three of the six subjects must have been passed at Higher Level (HL); the remaining subjects at Standard Level (SL).

How to apply

The IB Diploma must be enclosed with the application, as the original or a certified copy. The IB counts as a non-Austrian school-leaving certificate but is treated as equivalent, so no nostrification is needed if the criteria are met.

Language requirements

  • German knowledge must be proven. If German appears as Language A (level C1) in the IB Diploma, this proof counts as provided.
  • German C1 (CEFR) is an admission requirement for degree programmes taught in German.
  • Applicants without German C1 can register as non-degree students with German A2 proof, until C1 is documented.
  • Additional proof of English is required for the Bachelor's programmes Acoustics, Music, and Information Engineering; Chemical and Process Engineering; Computer Science; Information and Computer Engineering; Software Engineering and Management. English as Language B (level B2) in the IB Diploma counts as this proof.

Worth knowing

  • The IB is regarded as proof of the general university entrance qualification.
  • A total below 24 points results in an IB Certificate rather than an IB Diploma, and admission to TU Graz with an IB Certificate is not possible.
  • A German language certificate must be no more than two years old at the time of application and cover reading, listening, speaking and writing.
