Subject and level conditions

  • At least six examination subjects are required, and one of them must be a foreign language (German is allowed).
  • Mathematics must be among the subjects.
  • At least three of the examination subjects must be taken at Higher Level.

How to apply

Applicants apply by submitting an application for admission to the degree programme (Antrag auf Zulassung zum Studium); the IB Diploma is uploaded as a document in u:space. Required documents and steps depend on prior education and the chosen programme.

Language requirements

  • German as an IB Diploma subject only counts as proof of German at level A2; it does not replace the required level C1.
  • The IB Diploma is uploaded in u:space as proof of level A2; proof of German at level C1 must still be provided before admission to a regular degree programme.

Worth knowing

  • The IB Diploma must be obtained; with only an IB Certificate, admission is not possible.
  • The issuing country of the IB Diploma is always Switzerland, regardless of the country where the school was attended.
  • Whether and which supplementary examinations (Ergänzungsprüfungen) are required is only determined when the documents are reviewed, not beforehand.
  • Applicants may not apply without the required certification (Beglaubigung); all required documents must be submitted with the application.
  • Bachelor/Diploma programmes with an admission or aptitude procedure and the Bachelor's programme in Sport and Exercise Science have their own special requirements and steps.
