How to apply
Applicants with a non-EU citizenship and a non-EU school qualification must submit a Vorprüfungsdokumentation (VPD) from uni-assist with their application. The VPD checks whether the qualification is sufficient for direct admission or whether further qualifications, such as an assessment examination (Feststellungsprüfung) at a Studienkolleg, are required.
Language requirements
- For all Bachelor programmes and the Staatsexamen, international applicants must show proof of sufficient German skills.
- For international Bachelor applications, level B1 German must be proven at the time of application.
- For international Bachelor applications, level C1 German must be proven at enrolment.
- Master programmes differ: some require German, some require German and English, and some require only English for application.
Worth knowing
- The school-leaving qualification must be recognised in Germany as a university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) for all Bachelor programmes and the Staatsexamen.
- In most cases the Abitur or an equivalent school-leaving certificate from the applicant's home country is sufficient.
- The page points to the anabin information portal for assessing foreign school and education qualifications.
- The page does not mention the IB Diploma specifically.
