How to apply
Applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification apply for a document check through uni-assist e. V. first (step 1), then apply to Charité after receiving the uni-assist review report (step 2). Non-EU/EEA applicants for Medicine and Dentistry apply via uni-assist e. V.
Language requirements
- Applicants must submit proof of German language skills, uploaded through the uni-assist portal; the required German skills must be proven by the application deadline.
- Medicine and Dentistry are taught in German.
Courses with restricted admission
- Medicine (admission restricted, approx. 288 places, 13 standard semesters, Staatsexamen)
- Dentistry (admission restricted, approx. 38 places, 11 standard semesters, Staatsexamen)
Deadlines
- Step 1, uni-assist review report request for winter semester: 1 May to 15 June
- Step 2, application to Charité for winter semester: 1 June to 15 July
- Medicine and Dentistry, non-EU/EEA applicants: summer semester until 15 January, winter semester until 15 July
Worth knowing
- Both pages mention the International Baccalaureate only in a pointer saying applicants with an IB or US High School Diploma will find further information at uni-assist e. V.; no IB-specific admission rules or point thresholds are stated.
- Charité generally issues no conditional admissions; all admission requirements must be proven with the application or by the end of the application deadline at the latest.
- 5 % of study places are reserved for non-EU foreign applicants who are not treated as equal to German applicants; selection in this group is based only on the average grade derived from the educational certificates.
- For Medicine and Dentistry in the non-European quota, the best grades are admitted and a lottery decides among equal grades; TestAS results, internships and recommendation letters are not considered, and waiting semesters are not counted.
- uni-assist e. V. charges a fee for its check and converts foreign grades to the German grading system.
- Applicants from China, Vietnam and India must attach the APS certificate.
- Sworn translations of all documents into German or English are required.
- Only one admission application may be submitted under § 17 of the Berlin university admission regulation; if several are filed for different Bachelor programmes, only the last application filed on time is decided.
- Applicants already studying the same programme (Medicine or Dentistry) at a German university must be exmatriculated when applying.
- Applicants with EU/EEA educational certificates are considered in all quotas except the foreign-applicant quota.
- Decision notices for the Medicine and Dentistry application round are expected around February 2027 by email only, with enrolment by February 2027 at the latest; these dates are indicative.
