Studying at Universität zu Köln with the IB

Applicants upload their documents to the Klips 2.0 basic account and apply via the university's online portal Klips 2.0. For DoSV courses with restricted admission (1-Fach- and Verbund-Bachelor, 1. Prüfung Rechtswissenschaften), applicants must first register with Hochschulstart to get a BID/BAN number to enter in Klips 2.0. Medicine and Dentistry applications go only through Hochschulstart.

• All Bachelor's programmes, the state-examination programmes and the 1. Prüfung (law) are taught in German, so very good German skills must be demonstrated.
• Accepted German proof: TestDaF TDN 4 in all examination parts.
• Accepted German proof: DSH 2 (only DSH from higher education institutions with examination regulations registered under the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) provisions).
• Accepted German proof: Deutsches Sprachdiplom level II of the KMK (DSD II).
• Accepted German proof: Telc C1 Hochschule or Telc C2.
• Accepted German proof: Goethe-Institut C1 certificate.
• Accepted German proof: ÖSD C2.
• Accepted German proof: passed German section of the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP).
• The German language certificate can be submitted at the latest by the end of the enrolment period.
• German citizenship alone does not count as proof of German language ability for German citizens with a foreign entrance qualification.

• Lehramt and 2-Fach-Bachelor with restricted admission: winter semester 15.07., summer semester 15.01.
• 2-Fach-Bachelor without restricted admission: winter semester 30.09., summer semester 31.03.
• Medicine and Dentistry: deadlines are set by Hochschulstart, applicants should check them in good time.

• IB holders must upload an officially certified copy of the IB certificate with proof of continuous attendance (2 years) of the examination subjects (EU/EEA route page).
• On the page for German citizens with foreign entrance qualifications, IB holders upload a copy of the IB certificate with proof of 2 years of continuous attendance of the examination subjects.
• A formal university entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) is required; recognition of foreign diplomas can be checked via uni-assist.
• The school leaving certificate and subject/marks transcript need a translation if not issued in German, English or French.
• The International Office may request certified documents at any time.
• German citizens with a foreign entrance qualification should obtain recognition with grade conversion from a German recognition body (Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf for NRW) before applying and submit it within the deadline.
