Studying at Universität Würzburg with the IB

Applicants with an IB Diploma who do not yet have a letter of recognition (Anerkennungsbescheid) from the Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle must first request a preliminary review documentation (VPD) from uni-assist, and then submit a separate application for admission to the University of Würzburg (VPD uploaded to the WueStudy portal or sent with the other application documents).

• Request the VPD from uni-assist as early as possible and at least 6 weeks before the end of the JMU application deadline
• Closing date for applications to programmes with local admission restrictions (first subject semester): 15 July for winter intake, 15 January for summer intake

• Applicants holding an International Baccalaureate Diploma who do not have an Anerkennungsbescheid from the Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle need a VPD from uni-assist.
• Applicants holding an International Baccalaureate Diploma who already have an Anerkennungsbescheid from the Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle do not need a VPD.
• A VPD can be requested from uni-assist at any time of year and is valid for one year.
• The VPD must be requested from uni-assist BEFORE submitting the application for admission to the University of Würzburg; the two are separate processes.
• For a Bachelor's or state examination VPD, uni-assist needs a copy of the higher education entrance qualification in the original language, plus a translation if the original is not in German or English.
• German nationals holding a higher education entrance qualification from a non-German institution (including IB Diploma holders) are listed as an applicant category asked to upload documents with the online application.
• Applicants in the categories listed must always upload their university entrance qualification and a current curriculum vitae.
• For subjects with admission restrictions, certified hardcopies of all documents must be presented to the University of Würzburg.
