Study with the IB

Studying in Switzerland with the IB

Swiss universities admit IB students against the swissuniversities recommendation - a points benchmark plus a six-subject profile - but each university sets its own rule. Points benchmarks below were rechecked in October 2026 and follow the 2026/27 rules, as swissuniversities had not yet published its 2027/28 recommendation. Language of instruction (German, French or Italian) and its certificate level are usually the deciding constraint.

How admission works

  1. 1Check the university's points benchmark and six-subject profile.
  2. 2Prove the language of instruction (often C1) by the stated deadline.
  3. 3Apply directly; medicine additionally needs swissuniversities registration by 15 February and is open only to Swiss citizens and residence-permit holders.
